Tarantulas is such a deeply tragic character and I’m very upset about him
There’s this desire to procreate which is framed in a way that’s supposed to make him creepy but I can’t help but sympathize
His greatest work, his child, was ripped away from him and his partner abandoned him to a life of torment that he was able to climb out of
It left him twisted, he had changed so that nothing could hurt him like that ever again, focusing on how the war has twisted Cybertronian society because it was all he had left to do
And he still wanted to be with the partner who hurt him because he saw it as another chance to create life, he wanted this because even though he was all but destroyed the partnership was fruitful
But he discovers that his greatest work, his son, is still alive and he goes to tell him he loves him
To tell him he never meant to leave him all alone
And he realizes that it was for the best that he didn’t raise his son, even if it would have brought him great joy. Even if it was the thing he wanted to do most in the world.
But it was enough to be able to see what a good person his son grew up to be.
His Ostaros, the life he created, his greatest work grew into something good, and that was enough
hello I have more add to this because Tarantulas fucks me up so badly, like when he confronts Prowl about what happened to Ostaros
That whole exchange is just him saying “Prowl… what happened to our son? Did you ever even care about him?” and then smash cut to me looking like this
the fact so many people have a fondness for kirby as a character despite never having played or even been interested in playing one of his games really goes to show how good a design he is
He wasn’t even supposed to have his own game. He was supposed to be a filler until they made the main character but the game devs became so fond of Kirby that they just made him the main character

Hey fellas so I took a real long break from Realistic Pokemon, which some of you sure seemed to notice. I got a job on the upcoming Detective Pikachu film, which meant drawing Pokemon or Pokemon related things every day for 7 months. I honestly felt a little Pokemon burnout and it took me longer to get back into Pokemon stuff than I expected. I am back though, or as back as I can be with a full time concept art day job. I hope you guys dig this kick off to the next series of Realistic Pokemon. I’ve wanted for years to start doing illustrations featuring my Pokemon designs in environments, doing stuff. More to come, hopefully soonish? Anyways here’s the flavor text:
Eevee and Vulpix are superficially very similar Pokemon despite not being especially closely related. Both Eevee and Vulpix are very common in the high end Pokemon Beauty Contest circuit as they are prized for their aesthetics. As a result they are often raised together in captivity and are often very comfortable around each other. Pokemon friendships are be a strong bond that does not break despite when evolution to Vaporeon occurs. A Vaporeon raised in isolation or in the wild is very aggressive and dangerous to Ninetales. Under proper circumstances, their biology may have greatly diverged but their shared past can still bring them together for a peaceful interaction in spite of their type opposition. Don’t be a dick to people you grew up with even if they are more successful and have more tails than you.
